CLEANING ROD THREAD SIZES???
I don't have this problem but two of my friends have this problem. I guess that there are two different thread sizes for the two most popular clean rod ends. Outers and Hops. I have only Hoppes kits so I don't have this problem. Both of them have stripped out the ends of their cleaning rods because I beleive that they put the wrong ends in the wrong rod. Is this possible between outers and Hoppes?
Did outers and Hoppes do this so you have to use their cleaning ends? Now they are going to try to JB weld their brushes in the different rods instead of tossing them in the trash. Like I said I have not ran into this problem since I only use Hoppes kits. I have bought different bore mops, brushes, jags online and have not had this problem come up with my cleaning rods so What's up with their cleaning rods or accessories? Thanks, Bob

Also one of my own pet gripes. On my set of cleaning rods, they seem to have their own proprietary thread size to put the rods together. Of course, this size is NOT the same as the thread sizes of the patch jag and the brushes. To use those, you have to thread on a small piece of adapter rod that has a male rod size tip and an accessory size thread female tip.
Come on guys. You're big boys. How about holding a little meeting over coffee and pick a mutally compatible industry thread size for the rods and all screw on accessories. No more adapters needed. We'd all appreciate it. [:)]0 -
i think that the thread size is different i only use tipton one piece rods an i do know they make adaptors for differnt cleaning tip ends so it is possable that hopppies an outers are differnt too 0 -
They make adapters. Brownells or Midway. 0 -
Not only are thread sizes different, but some rods have female ends and some have male. I have both so have be careful which I am buying jags and brushes for. 0
