S&W Model 48-4 DOM

I've been looking on the Internet for a source to determine a S&W Model 48-4's date of manufacture, without success. Serial number AAN26XX. Can anyone help determine DOM? Thank you.

  When S & W went to the alpha prefix in the early 80's. It became a lot hard to figure DOM. My WAG is that it dates to 1982.

  Probably 1982 as rife-snow says. You might be able to narrow it down a bit more if it has a pinned barrel. Supposedly that stopped in 1982 so if no pin, it is 1983 or later. However, never say never with S&W as they would use parts as long as they had them. So, even if pinned it could possibly be a little later than 1982.
