1895 win take down
I was offered an 1895 Win take down in .405. He went into a long story of rarity and so on. My question is how rare is one in 405. Also a ball park figure for one in pretty average condition.
Thanks

Fazer1,
The only way for us to tell for sure, is by seeing good, well lit, infoucus, photographs. It could be an early original, or it could be one of the newer Japan made, under license from Winchester ones. If it is the later, in average condition, something south of $1000.00, but if it is an original, in original configuration as it left the factory, then only condition can tell.
Bert H, is one of our foremost Winchester guru's here, and I am sure he will be along shortly.

Original 1895 takedown's in .405 are scarce. Originality and condition are extremely important in regards to value. Must see pictures.
Potentially this is a $500 to ?? $25,000 ?? rifle.0 -
Even higher with TRs initials cut in the stock.

It's a pretty ordinary piece, not much blue, shot gun butt, decent bore. 0 -
It's awful hard to find any decent shootable 1895 405 T.D. for under a grand in these parts. More like under 2 grand......[;)] 0 -
Take Down Model 1895 Rifles are not rare or even uncommon. Over the years, I have seen several dozen of them in 405 WCF. If the rifle is original, and in decent condition, it is very difficult to find one for under $4k. 0
