Help with rifle ID... Mauser?
Please help me identify this rifle. I believe it is a Mauser. I would also like to know where I could find an extractor and the retaining band for the extractor.
Thanks!

Thanks!

It looks like a sporterized 1924 Serbian Mauser ..

It originally was a Yugoslav Model 24 Carbine. Prior to sporteraziation. 0 -
Yugoslavian Model 1924 Short Rifle. The Cyrillic on the rail says, Kigdom of Yugoslavia, Military Arsenal,Kragujevac.
These were also built by FN in Belgium.

Per the photos in Balls book. The fonts are different for the manufacturers markings, on the left side of the receiver. The ones used for the Carbine. Are different than the Short Rifles.0 -
Are we certain these extractors from 98s will work? 0 -

I wondered that, too, since the Yugo is a shorter action than a standard 98. So I compared one of my Yugos to a 1909 Argie and, while the '09 bolt is longer, the extractor is the same length. So it ought to work and, per Trap's post it does.0 -
Dave at Hoosier GunWorks has compiled this Mauser cross reference, it's still a work in progress. Scroll down for pics of extractors.

WHAT IS THIS THING CHAMBERED IN?
The original was 8mm Mauser. Since it's been sporterized. It might have been rechambered, or rebarreled to a different cartridge? Take it in to a competent gunsmith, to have the bore slugged and a chamber cast made.0
