I have a box of western 22 ammo in a blue and yellow box.On the inside flap is stamped,"ARMY LOT 308" 1940 86RE72X2Any idea of the value?

  Went to Walmart this weekend and found some ammo ( 45 , 22, 3030). they had just gotten a shipment in before I got there.
  They had some Remmington golden _____ 22 ammo and I purchased it.
  What do yall see as the best / better 22 ammo. ( please not the ones available.) Winchester has several versions as do others. Whats the difference.

  Yes, you can buy some on the auction site, right now, if you "need" it badly enough, but you'll be paying for the privilege.

  For what its worth, right now match quality Eley Tenex ammo is still available at $0.40/round ($20/box). Many consider this to be the best .22LR available in the world. Other "lesser" but still excellent match grade ammo (eg Lapua, Federal Gold Medal, etc) is still available at $12-15/box.
  
  I understand that people can ASK whatever they like for their ammo, but IMO its simply insane for anyone to pay more than $10/box (or $0.20/round) for ANY conventional .22LR ammo, even during this shortage. People are asking $0.60/round for CCI Stingers and such, and IMO that's just cuckoo. . .you're better off buying the match ammo.

  In the last 2 months, I have bought CCI-SV and Mini-Mag ammo at Gander Mountain. It comes and goes fairly quick there. They also had Green Tag. I paid $4.99 for the 50 round boxes of CCI-SV and $7.99 for 100 round boxes of Mini-Mag. They have a 10 box limit at the Gander Mountain in Florence,AL.

  Not too long ago I paid $6.50 for a box of 50 CCI Stingers at our local Walmart. 3 box limit.

  Gander Mtn. has some Remington Subsonic, seems a little high but they have it right now.
