Weatherby Mark XX11
I have the chance to pick up a Mark XX11 for a decent price. I don't know if its Japanese or Italian made. I seem to remember some problems Weatherby had with their stocks. Some kind of rust problem between the barrels and stock etc. Can anyone refresh my memory or am I completely wrong? Thanks for any help!

The Italian ones had a MILLED safety and were marked ITALY
ones made in JAPAN had stamped safety . I think you might be thinking of Browning "SALT TREATED WOOD I have never seen the problem with the Mark XXII and they are very easy to take out of the stock and clean if they get wet. I put paste wax in barrel channel of all my rifles.
EDIT
Yes one is better than the other[:)]
EDIT II Yes Ray B sometimes I take this to Excess
But I found the farther you travel or more money you spend the more likely you will have a break down of a piece of equipment you need. When I was team CAPTAIN OF STATE PISTOL TEAM I CARRIED MY SPARe PARTS AND TOOLS WITH ME to work on team members pistols.
IMHO I like the Italian I Have two . they are my Squirrel guns. When I find something I like when it comes to sporting good I get TWO because Then I have a SPARE if they discontinue making it.0 -
Thanks.
Is the Japanese or the Italian better than the other?0 -
I've heard that you want to stay away from the ones made in Italy. although not sure why though. FWIW I have a factory Weatherby scope for the MKVII in excellent condition and would make an auction for you for a good price.

Why stop at TWO? If one breaks then you will no longer have a spare.0
