? For Bert
Are all the serialization charts provided by Maddis in error, or just 94"s. I looked at an 1892 (auction # 105848663) on the auction side that said ser # 110692 built in 96, yet they go on to say that Cody says "received in warehouse April 1899". so when was this gun built?

When did Winchester change the barrel marking on the 1894 from 30 WCF to 30-30 0 -
I'm not Bert, but the answer to your question is 1951.
I'm sure Bert will be along and give you the date and time, but I'm pretty close.

Actually, it was early in the year 1950. In my research survey, I have recorded the following as the transition point;
1673569 30 W.C.F.
1673575 30 W.C.F.
1674105 30 W.C.F.
1674283 30 W.C.F.
1674687 30-30 WIN.
1674729 30-30 WIN.
1674992 30-30 WIN.
1675006 30-30 WIN.
The transition from the long to the short forend stock was in late 1950, in the 1748863 - 1749147 serial number range.
In my research survey, I have very closely identified the serial number range for all of the notable production changes.0
