Winchester model 54 22 Hornet parts
I have a complete Winchester model 54 22 Hornet bolt and an old Winchester model 54 30-06 that has the barrel shortened, the action drilled for a side mount scope base and the stock butchered so I would consider making it into a 22 Hornet if I could purchase the right parts. Does anyone know what additional parts other than a barrel I would need to acquire. From what I have found researching this so far is that the bolts and magazine parts are what were different. I would consider making the parts if I had pictures of them to go buy. I would not try to make an exact copy just one that functions and would be fun to shoot.

There was a special magazine box w/attached ejector, a short follower, a bent wire follower spring.
BTW, all the Hornet parts for the pre-'64 Model 70 Hornet rifles except the bolt will work on your 54, you don't need actual 54 parts.0 -
Thank you Richard. 0 -
I have seen a 54 hornet that had been rebarreled to 222 rem. the bottom metal was off a standard rifle but the magazine box and follower appeared to be a remington 700. rifle functened and shot well. 0 -
Upon further inspection of my bolt and trying it in my Mod 54, I found it's a Model 70 Hornet bolt. It had a M54 breech bolt sleeve assy screwed into it and that's why the person who sold it to me thought it was for a Mod 54. I saw one recently sell for $150.00 so I guess it will be put on the auction block for perhaps someone looking to restore a Mod 70 that had been converted to a 222 Rem. Thanks fellows for your input. 0 -
