    Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, when it comes to ammo, your timing is not good. A lot of folks are hoarding ammo, so there is currently a shortage of many calibers. Even in the best of times, ammo wholesalers sell only to stocking dealers. As a retail customer, you may be able to take advantage of loss leader bulk pack ammo at the big box stores; check the ads in the Sunday newspaper supplement.

Let me get this straight: You are a shooter who wants to buy your ammo wholesale not a retailer, correct? So do we all. Best hope is to buy in enough bulk to get a good price as NMyers suggests. It may be worthwile to find a friend to go in with to buy larger volume and split the shipping.

This isn't as complicated as one might imagine if you have access to a large group of folks with similar interests. I have done it before with members of my local gun club. Hint: Get payment in advance from all who want to participate. It's a lot easier than trying to squeeze it out of them later, when the shipment comes in. Some always get "buyer's remorse" and drag their feet reimbursing you. [:D][:D]

You can't expect to get wholesale pricing unless you're buying in large quantities, and even then, probably not true wholesale unless you intend to do so on a regular basis.

How much ammo do you want to buy, and are you going to be buying it on a regular basis?

Barring large scale purchase, if you want cheap(er) centerfire ammo you have two alternatives.

You can (re)load your own ammo from components. Apart from being cheaper, you can also develop loads this way that aren't commercially available or easily commercially available. EG, low velocity practice loads, etc.

Depending on what you're trying to do, you might also consider just confining yourself to military surplus type cartridges, that can (depending on cartridge) potentially be purchased cheaper than new factory loaded ammo.

For example the Mosin Nagant 7.62x54R ammo can still be had for under $100/can, which works out to less than $0.23 per round for a .308 Winchester powered centerfire rifle round. In honestly, once you factor in component costs, plus the cost of your time, you probably can't even reload ammo that inexpensively.

8mm Mauser ammo can still be had for under $0.60 a round, which is pretty cheap as these things go.

The Russian steel case 7.62x39 Kalashnikov/SKS carbine ammo can be had now for about $220/1000 round case, which is still pretty cheap.
