Are there any special restrictions on shipping 3006 ball ammo to California? I am familiar with the DOT regulations but does California or any of the counties, cities etc. have any specific restrictions in addition to the DOT regulations?

    Thanks

If you are NOT a dealer- no problem. You can ship TO a CA dealer. If you ARE a dealer, you need to register with the CA DOJ before shipping to a CA dealer.

You will never ship any gun "to California". You will only ship to a "type 01 Federal Firearms Licensee" in California, after verifying his ID/location on EZ-Check; such transfer is always permitted by federal law.

The job of the CA FFL is to make sure that the person who will be the actual recipient is eligible to do so according to state & local law.

And, yes prison food isn't good. Plus, snakes in the bunks are a problem at the Eglin AFB stockade.

That is correct, as long as the item is not a "banned" firearm..

The handgun has to be on the gestapo's Calif DOJ's "approved" list too.

Not to nitpick, folks, but whether a gun is on the CA DOJ list does not matter IF the gun is going to a California Dealer. A California Dealer MAY purchase those guns. They can't sell them to a California resident, but they CAN sell them to a dealer in another state.

As said, ship to a CA 01 FFL Dealer, and it is up to them to determine if the transfer can be made at their end.

That is not nit picking, you are in fact quite correct. In additon; all Curio and Relic handguns which are over fifty years old (being on the ATF C&R list alone is not sufficent) are exempted from the DOJ list.

An unlicensed individual such as argie1891 who is shipping has zero concerns; everything falls upon the FFL dealer on the receiving end in CA.

thanks for the reply.. how about if I have a ffl dealer here in Washington state ship it for me. it is cheaper to have him ship usps than for me to go to ups as they really screw shippers of handguns.

If you use an FFL dealer then that dealer must either be registered with the CA DOJ or log into their site as a "guest" in order to receive a shipping approval number. This takes 30 seconds for someone already registered or about two minutes as a guest. If you ship firearms yourself as an unlicensed individual then no DOJ shipment number is needed. The choice is yours.

By the way, the chow here in this state is pretty good.

the sad truth is that Washington state is almost maybe more liberal than California. republicans pretty much have it made east of the cascade mountains. the wet side is made up of liberal commie do gooders. I once had a young girl barista with a high school diploma tell me how people on the west side were much more educated cultured and plain smarter than anyone on the east side. I felt like choking her as she was and is dumber than a box of rocks. she can tell you who is going to win American idol, and all about grudge singers.

Trying to keep straight which handgun - model, barrel length, sights an all sorts of other things that "disqualify" most CA residents from taking possession after it is ordered or bought on line - is quite the chore. The plain old Browning Hi Power in what might look like standard configuration, may or may not be allowed in, depending on when it was made. And Smiths carrying a 19, 15, 66, 29, 27 or any number of designations are in the same boat, depending on which "dash" they carry and barrel length.

It's a bit of a challenge to figure out, even for those in CA doing the ordering.

I hate to do it to our fellow gun owners but I flat will not ship to the republic of California and its insane voters who vote these liberal commie sons of what ever but I wont ship there. that would solve the problem for me.
