'98 Mauser variations??
The problem: I have a barrel that was made for an FN Weatherby action and need to find a suitable action for fitting it.
The Review: In seeking a workable action on GB and other places I find several different model numbers of actions that are "basically" a '98 design. However, some of these while having a "large" ring have a smaller diameter inside, thus accepting only "small shank" barrels. Other variations have smaller magazine wells/longer feed ramps and several different features.
The question: Is there a source that lists at least several of the variations and how they are different from the FN Magnum action?

In the appendix, reference section. Of Frank de Haas book "Bolt Action Rifles" There are "barrel shank drawings" of numerous military and commercial barrels.
There isn't a "FN Magnum" one listed. But there is one for a Brevex Magnum Mauser. That Weatherby did use for some of his builds.
Mike the shank of your barrel. If the OD is 1.141 it's for a Brevex. Not going to work with a large ring Mauser action, which takes 1.100 OD barrels.0
