Underwood M1 Carbine

Can someone enlighten me as to the "T" stamped on the rear as shown in last photo? Thanks!!

The prime contractors manufactured their own receivers. If they needed
more receivers than what they could possible manufacture than they'd
sub it out to another manufacturer. the Ordinance Department
needed to know who made them if a problem arose, so those receivers had
to be specially identified.

That receiver's prime contractor was Underwood, but they had sub'd it
out to Intertype Corporation to manufacture it. So Underwood had to
stamp it with a capital T.

There doesn't seem to be any rarity to Underwood M1's as they were the
third largest manufactures of carbines, behind Inland and Winchester.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me a good source of carbine info, know there is war babies by Ruth 1 2 etc, is there any one GOOD source or do you need to by numerous reference books??
