Informal range report CZ83
Just wanted to let you guys know I picked up the CZ83 (.380 cal) and my first range report is as follows
This is a wonderful pistol for someone who is: on a budget, recoil sensitive, and looking for a home protection/concealed carry pistol. The only bad thing I can say about it is that the steel frame is a little heavy for everyday concealed carry. The high capacity factor is a nice bonus and the pistol is very accurate. If anyone out there is thinking about purchasing one and can get a good/decent deal, I cannot imagine you going wrong.

Hey Royc, thanks for the report. You will catch flak for this being in the wrong forum. Should be in the general discussion. But its always good hearing first-hand impressions of guns, most of the crap in General Discussion is just that. I would like to read about guns and shooting. 0 -

Don't be sorry Royce38...This is indeed the correct forum, although you might be able to copy it to other forums as well, to let more folks know. There are many of us here that are interested in field reports of things as such, and if I do remember correctly, you came here first, and asked, which one, and your choice was between a Makarov, and the CZ-83. Glad you made the right choice for you, and are letting us know, we did help you make your decision.

I'm not surprised by your report. The CZ82 (very similar to the CZ83) does weigh more than the Makarov and FEG PA63 in 9x18 Makarov. I've owned all three. Sold the PA62 and the Makarov was stolen in a break in. The weight definitely helped with the recoil. IMHO CZ83 recoil would be even less with the 380 round.
These CZs are definitely well made. The only thing I don't like is the painted on finish. The CZ82 is a heavy carry gun but it does give me 13 rounds. I'm thinking of bobbing the hammer and grinding the lanyard ring off.0
