I am going to go out on a big limb here and guess that in order to properly identify the originality you will have to remove the protetive cap. I am sure that Bert can ID it if it can be viewed.

There are not any threads on the barrel, they are on the "drive-on" coupling. According to Bert, if I have this correct, he has verified three factory original rifles with this type of Maxim Silencer coupling affixed.

I have an 1890 like it as well. However, it does have at least one other factory special order feature. Does your rifle have any other feature that might be special order?

Added: The front sight looks to be the Lyman No. 3 Gold Bead.

At first look, it does look like a factory installed adapter for a Maxim silencer. Please post a picture with the cap off.

It also has a period correct Lyman tang sight. This is not my rifle, I cannot get additional pictures unfortunately.
