DOM Browning SA-22

Checking production date of a Browning Sa-22 for a close friend. Serial number is A497 located on the metal buttplate. No dovetail grooves for scope on receiver, has a wheel sight and receiver is marked 22 short, smokeless. Cannot discern production date from info found on web. Any help appreciated.

  IMHO, "A" prefix 1 to 2,700 in 1956.
