As good for what? Gelatin blocks? Water jugs? Or.......dogs & humans?

Frangible ammo has been around for > 40 years, yet we have little evidence of use on the latter. No LEA uses it, not many folks use it for personal defense, & the media (& police) rarely even know what type ammo was used in a shooting.

I DO know that frangible ammo will not penetrate multiple layers of drywall, or ricochet off concrete, & kill/injure innocent bystanders as solid bullets will. But, will it instantly incapacitate a perp? I have no idea, & I doubt that anyone can give you more than anecdotal evidence.

Very expensive, Last time I bought some they were $3 a round.

Decided to make my own using Corbin .38 bullet swaging dies. #2 shot was the most effective. But a bear getting it into the Corbin bullet jackets evenly. Each individual shot had to be put in with jewelers tweezers.

Run through the Corbin dies, the jackets loaded with #2 shot weighed between 50 & 60 grains.

Using a red line plus load of A A 2 powder. Cronoed at something like 1800 FPS.

Absolutely destroyed quart Gatorade bottles filled with water, that I used as targets.

IMHO, they would have been a very effective. But sufficient penetration with the small amount of #2 shot, would have been questionable?
