.22 birdshot shoots
Does anyone know someone who works on .22 barrels that can help them shoot birdshot better and an indoor shoot. Can only use stock barrels but they can be modified, No long barrels

I can't believe I'm posting this.....[:0]
Call Joe at Joes Custom Guns in Rockford, WV.
He used to modify shot gun barrels by back boring and special honing
methods for card competitions.
Same thing you need done, but on a smaller scale.0 -
Making your tube a smoothbore could be an issue. However should you choose the clean your bore with crocus cloth and a power drill, that could be just poor cleaning technique taught by bubba.
I think the conical smoothbore 22's did reasonably well with the crimped shot loads. Routledge-Bore comes to mind.0 -
Stock barrels? How a bout a factory smoothbore gun? Mossberg targo? Remington 514 or 572SB smoothbore? There are a lot more! 0 -
There are quite a few smoothbore 22's on the auction side...the factories made them for a reason...

All factory smooth bore .22's will not be competitive in any real
matches. They all spread shot strings much too much.
I assume because you looking for a gunsmith to modify your gun,
you are into some serious competitions. A custom machined barrel
is the only way to go, if you want to win.
The guy next to you on the line will have one.[;)]0 -
Have several smoothbores but they do not pattern as well as I like, also have a custom long barrel but cannot use it. Will talk to shaw and see what they can do 0 -
What kind of competition are you talking about with .22 birdshot? I never heard of it and a brief google turned up nothing... 0 -
It is a indoor turkey shoot at 20-22 ft using 22 rifles and birdshot closest to the x wins 0 -
One might want to consider a 17 cal barrel if one is made for your rifle. Have it smooth bored to 22, but leave some choke at the muzzle. Would that work? Maybe? Going to smooth bore one will have to maintain 18" minimun length I'm sure. 0
