Swedish M94 carbine, if it has a muzzle extension early import, if none then later. Extension was welded on because originally barrel were too short, then barrel length law changed. 0 -
Swedish Cavalry Model 94/14. Big buck item nowadays. Unfortunately your FIL, let it hang on the wall without lube. Lot of surface rust. Stock looks like it has been sanded also. It still all there though. With some TLC, a collector could fix it up. My WAG still $400 to $600, even with the problems. 0 -
It has the extension from 45 cm - 17.7" to 18+" as required before the minimum legal rifle barrel length was reduced from 18 to 16". 0 -
The Swedish Carbine is a fine little rifle that like Rufe says, is favored by collectors as not many (@115k or so) were made and not many imported into the US. They fire a great cartridge (6.5x55) and make super hunting rifles as they are light and easy to carry. All were made at the Carl Gustav factory for the Swedish Navy and coastal artillery/engineer guys who wanted a shorter rifle than the M96 and your 1918 date indicates that yours was made towards the end of the WWI run (59k-112k). None were really made after 1925 or so. But as Rufe also says, your FIL evidently didn't take much care of the rifles you have shown us thus far as the metal needs lots of attention. Interestingly, the wood looks much better than does the metal on the three you have shown us. I have four of these little jewels and if yours was mine, I would take it apart and carefully clean it, making sure the rust and pitting is dealt with accordingly. You can check GB Forum past threads on how to do that if you are interested.....and that will improve value considerably IMO. Having said that, Swedish steel is better than almost all others and cleans up very well. How is the bore? If it was cleaned up and improved, you could add another $3/400 or so to value as they are rather rare and collectors do value them. Good luck![:)] 0 -
