Post War 1911A! NM 6 digit serial number
I just recieved a postwar Colt National Match 1911A1. It has a six digit serial number 2740xx-NM. Yup thats right. The slide bears the last three digits of the guns serial number(under the rear sight) as it should. It has the Gold Cup trigger with all the other options! Has anybody ever seen one simular? The feed ramp, extractor nose, grip saftey and the thumb saftey all have bare metal where Colt fit them. Total legit! I found another one just 48 number apart. work 217-585-1911 cel 217-652-6704

Sounds good!, Which war? 0 -
Your pistol serial numbers to 1956. It's in the first post war national match range, that Colt made circa late 1950's.
Total made isn't listed. Value would depend on factory originality and cosmetic condition. This business about bare metal on the various parts you mention, doesn't seem factual to me. I just don't see Colt shipping a NM pistol, with filed on parts. If bubba has worked his magic on it? Value will be seriously affected.
Please post, quality close-up photos, if possible.0 -
Colt did not produce the National Match pistol untill the fall of 1957. The serial number block is 10-NM through 37025-NM

Something is rotten in Denmark, than. You either got a Colt tool room gun. Or something that was fabbed in bubbas basement.
Colt letter is the only way I can see, that you can verify that it's the real McCoy.
Personally I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole, without a Colt letter.0 -
I own over 100 Colt 1911 and 1911A1 with 14 post war National Match 45 alone I have the 59th .38 midrange National Match made and I have .38 MidRange with the MKI, MKII and MKIII barrels. I think I know Colts work when I see it. I Just got off the phone with Colt and they requested pictures. So we will see. 0 -

How do I do that? 0 -
Sounds like you know your Colts But like most of us here without doing a Hands on inspection we have your word against all the current respected Research information that does not mention any 6 digit followed by NM. Please let us know what Colt says after seeing your pictures and if possible give us a peak at your pictures . I to collect colt 1911 type pistols but no where near 100 of them 0 -
How do I post pictures????? I do not know. I will be glad too. 0 -
