I am about to offer my M1 Carbine for sale but am not very knowledgeable about it. I need help identifying the various parts so I can give a detailed description . . . and need help appraising its value.

For someone not knowledgeable about carbines, you did an outstanding job on your photos. You have enough close ups that you really don't need to identify the parts any further.
You may want to remove the sling for the photos. If there are any markings on the stock or in the sling well, they could help raise the value. You want to show the letters on the spine of the mag.
The sling appears to be a genuine WW2 sling; you want to show close ups & any markings. You may even want to sell that separately. It could bring a high price.
Your carbine was made by Inland, & has been rebuilt at least once. The Buffalo Arms Co barrel is a replacement. The stock has been heavily sanded & refinished, probably so much it can't be identified. Thanks to your use of a "poor man's" Muzzle Wear gauge, we can see that the bore is tight, a big plus.
I would expect your carbine to bring $600-800 if sold on GunBroker, especially if you post all your photos.

Your photos really do answer all the most common questions. It has: a flat bolt, bayonet lug, push button mag release, lever safety, adjustable rear sight. Good luck with it, it looks to be in very good shape. 0 -
Thanks guys . . . for all the help.
I'm a good listener and will follow your advice.
This gun has been in my closet for over 50 years.
It belonged to my brother who was killed in Nam (69).
Hate to sell it but must.
Thanks again.0 -
