Kimber TLE is not coming to full cock.
Greetings all.
This here question goes on behalf of my friend who owns a Kimber Stainless Pro TLE/RL II.
He describes the gun as coming only to half cock after the first shot. He states the problem started with ejector problems, for which the ejector, the ejector spring, the recoil spring, and main spring were replaced by a friend of ours with some experience on 1911's. The ejector issue was solved, however, now arose the hammer problem.
I don't know much about 1911's. Would you please point us in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

change the recoil spring back to the original 0 -
Your "friend" probably put a too heavy recoil spring in [B)][:0] 0 -
I've owned and worked on a lot of 1911 platforms, over the years. From your description, I wouldn't bet it's the recoil spring.
Have a knowledgeable person disassemble the pistol. And check the mainspring for proper assembly and function. If it wasn't assembled correctly in the mainspring housing? The problem you describe might be the result.0 -
Never let Bubba work on a quality firearm! 0 -
+1 for seek the services of a actual gunsmith. I think bubba couldn't resist doing a trigger job, check the sear and the hammer. 0 -
Forge monkey has given you good advice I suspect the heavy recoil spring along with Bubba trying for a light trigger pull that the hammer is being cocked and then when slide slams closed the hammer falls to the half cock shelve.[V] This is Dangerous as the pistol could go full auto
When the slide goes back the fireing pin retainer cocks the hammer. The pistol is coming to full cock just not staying there[xx(][:(]0 -
UPDATE:
My friend swapped back to the original recoil spring, and now the gun works perfectly!
Once again, thanks all for the useful advise.0 -
what i suspected...[^] and you are welcome. glad it worked out[^] 0
