Magazine Question for 22 experts
I purchased some items at an auction a few days ago. Among the items were a box of 2 magazines that says GSG-5 magazine cal.22 LR HV and made in Germany. Also in it was a 100 round drum magazine with instruction manual also marked GSG. These magazines are new but I have never heard of a GSG 22 rifle. By the picture in the instructions it appears to be some kind of bullpup style rifle. Can anyone give me any info on what I have and maybe a guestimate of their worth? If their is any interest I would list them on GB for sale as I sure have no use for them. By the way the 2 in the box say 22 rounds per each. Thank you for any help. Bob

GSG makes several rifles (and pistols). IIRC the GSG-5 (actually 522) is a look-a-like of the HK 94 or MP5.
A quick google also turns up a drum magazine for the same gun.0 -
I would do a GOOGLE search for "GSG magazines". Because of the nobama gun panic of last year. They had become very difficult to acquire, specially the drum mag. If you bought them right price wise. And they are still in great demand. You might come out of the deal, smelling like the proverbial rose. 0 -
Trying to add something here "GSG" standard for "German Sports Group" and this company puts out "lookalike" copies of famous weapons in .22 caliber.
As depicted above, what you almost certainly have are magazines for their GSG-5 (aka 522), which is a lookalike of the HK MP5 submachine gun.
GSG also makes drum style mags for its AK-47 .22 lookalike, and interestingly for the Ruger 10-22, but these aren't interchangeable, and based on the label that's probably NOT what you have.
In terms of value, there are plenty of the 522 drum mags listed right now on the auction site for about $65-70 a pop, brand new. One seller has 92 of them listed for sale at $70 even, so it doesn't seem to me like these are particularly hard to find, nor are selling at unusually high "shortage" prices, at least not at the moment.
For the the regular mags, those come in 10 and 22 round versions. Right now there is a two-pack of 22s listed on the auction site for $45, and individual 22 rounders run about $25.
So assuming yours are brand new, I think a reasonable price for the lot (ie an amount you could actually get if you listed them together) is probably about $100. You might be able to squeeze out a few more bucks listing them separately, but I don't think you're going to be looking at an early retirement here. [;)]0 -
I have 4 of the GSG "German Sport Guns" .22 cal guns. 3 are the GSG5 MP5 copy and the fourth is the .22 cal copy of the WWII German STG 44 they make.
The magazines you have usually sell for about $40 for a box of two.
