Winchester Magnum Rifle powder
What's the general consensus on this powder? I spotted a few cans of it at a local shop recently, and at $15 a pound, I thought I might give it a try. None of my reloading manuals list it, so I assume it has been out of production for a while. The only magnum rifle I own right now is a .375 H&H. Would it be suitable for it? Thanks.

It's a little slow for a 375 H&H. It's in the ballpark with the slower powders such as 7828, not quite as slow as 870. It would work well in any of the larger capacity/smaller bore cartridges. I'll look up the data. $15/lb is a real score. 0 -
It's listed in Winchester's Reloading Manual, 14th edition as well as in Propellant Profiles 5th edition, Wolfe Publishing. I have an extra Winchester Manual, so I can drop it in the mail to you. the article in PP is from 1994, the year it was introduced and the write-up is pretty skimpy; but it lists a few loads: 243, 270, 30-06, & 300 Win Mag. The listed loads are about the same amounts as IMR 4831. 0
