Ruger 44 flat top
I bought a Ruger Blackhawk 44 mag dom 1959
sight unseen and I found out it has been modified
for a scope mount. I want to install a rear sight assy.
I took one off a 3 screw 357 blachawk but it
didn't come close to fitting.
Is there a special sight for a flat top
and if so ,where can I get one?
Thanks-Ron

I bought a flat top Ruger 44 a couple months
ago and just noticed the hammer is blued.
Is this normal or has the gun been refinished?
Thanks

The flat sides of Ruger Blackhawk hammers are not blued but left bright. 0 -

It's factory blued on top of the hammer and not on the sides on the Flattop Bisley.0 -
I see, maybe the pistol has been reblued.
My flat top is an old 3 screw DOM 1959.
I wonder if it came from the factory like that.
Wishful thinking[?]0 -
If just the hammer and NOT the rest of the pistol It is easy to temove the bluimg from the SIDES only wit a piece of Glass and 600 grit sandpaper . Has the three screw been modified at factory recall "safety". Remove hammer place Glass on table lay sandpaper on glass"FLAT SURFACE" and POLISH the BLUE AWAY. 0 -
The pistol is unconverted but the blued
hammer has the same deep blue hue as the rest
of the revolver as well as the screws.
Oh,well for $375 "cheap money" for a 3 screw
re-blued 44 flat top. I'm happy.
Some day I may do just that Karl just to
be "similar" to my other 3 screw pistols.0 -
My old flat top is a 1958 that I got long, long ago and has bright hammer sides. I have one of the newer production flat top .44 Specials and its hammer sides are in the white, also.
Your $375 was a great buy, refinished or not! It's hard to find any Blackhawk in any condition for that.0 -
Enjoy it. It's a beauty. Looks like a 44 special. is that correct? Shoot it in good health. 0 -

If his is an older 3 screw and it is a 44, then it is a 44 Remington Magnum. There were only two models of the 3 screw Flattops made...one in 357 Magnum, and the other in 44 Magnum.
