OK lets back up a minute Firearm sales are regulated By the BATFE
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms. some people just call them ATF. The Firearm branch Issue License and enforce firearm laws. There are
MANY different CLASSES of Licenses BUYING & SELLING for profit "YOUR LOCAL GUNSHOP another is Manufacture of firearms "COLT" another one is dealer in Class 3 firearms "Think full automatic fire arms", another one is for gunsmiths that repair guns Now. we come to C & R LICENSE This license allows someone to purchase Fire arms that meet certain rules from anywhere in the USA. Those rules have to be met
one and only one NOT ALL to quality for it to be a C & R Firearm . and thus can be bought and shipped direct to a C&R licence holder. One rule is "is it 50 years old or older and in original configuration" another rule is "is it Military and in original configuration" another is"is it on the BATF LIST
of collector grade firearms" A. C & R license holder is prohibited
from buying & selling for profit but may sell a lesser grade gun to upgrade with a better condition gun THIS IS A BIG GRAY AREA one has to be very careful if you set up at many gun-shows with lots of guns for sale. Some Dealers that run a BUSINESS /DEALER license are hesitant to ship direct to C&R license holders because they don't know the rules . Well, for sake of those who may come across this and actually never heard of before...
Curio & Relic.
A term that falls between "modern" and "antique" in firearm terms of buying and selling. And, as stated has to meet certain qualifications to leagally be a "C&R".
