I don't know about #26, but #27 only shows H4227 (19.0-22.3gr) and H110 (21.8-22.2gr) with a 300gr bullet, for the Ruger, Freedon Arms & T/C only 0 -
Sounds A little hot. You may get unburnt powder with that much. Seems 2400 isn't the best powder for heavy loads with the 300 tips.

I loaded some 44 mag with a 300 grain XTP and 17.0 of 2400.
It's a good shooting load in my ruger 77/44 and 44 mag ruger carbine (semi-auto) so I think with the extra case space of the 45 colt, it is probably a safe load in solid guns like ruger handguns and Thompson Center Contenders and the like. Obviously, only use modern cases with a solid web.
In fact my son just shot an 8 1/2 year old doe with that load this season and she only went about 25 yards.0 -
Speer No. 13 manual lists maximum 17.5 of 2400, 300 gr., for Ruger revolver. Velocity 1048 fps. 0 -
I checked my Hodgdon manual (#23)- it only lists H powders, No Hercules. 0 -
speer #13, for ruger & contender ONLY ; 300 gn bullet, 2400 powder......start 15.8 @ 938; 17.5 max @1048 0 -
