I'm well stocked on .22LR here in Virginia, and I purchased several pounds of IMR 4350 last weekend at the gun show at almost pre-panic prices. I even found an 8# tub of UNIQUE pistol/shotgun powder! I'm good to go.

Good to hear it Bruce. In the northern part of the state, most powders and primers are available, a tad more pricey, add a dollar or two to what you state. No .22 of any sort. Most CF rifle ammo is available but expensive. CF handgun ammo, hit and miss. You can find it if you aren't picky about brand, some days its there, sometimes you have to come back a few days later. As you know, I reload and cast (as I know you do) so it isn't and hasn't been an issue. After our Lord and President got elected the first time, I stocked up enough to last me 10 years for everything. But when I see powder or primers at a fair price I buy enough to top off my stock.

Karl, the shortage is still real bad for CCI standard velocity. I have a full case so when I start shooting again next summer I will have enough to get through the season. I have some Agulia Match Rifle too.

It may take another year for the 22 ammo shortage to get fixed.

.22 CCI STd Vel was $360/case at Camp Perry at CC of TN. Limit was 2 cases per person. Quite a bit of other Std Vel. was available (SK, Eley) for about $520/case. You can get CCI (for you CCI lovers) always in stock from Palmyra but it's about $600/case.

Quite a few places to buy Federal Std Vel local for us in NE Ohio for about $.10/round at the local stores, we just have to look for the ads and be there when the store opens.

While still a little high priced I subscribe to a location forum and a few months ago you would see 1-2 hits for .22 per day, and now I see 10-15 per day, so it's coming back, just have to watch for it every day.

Food for thought: if .22s are now priced at 10 cents per round, I won't shoot any more .22s. I can reload a cast bullet CF case with a reduced load cheaper and I find them more fun to shoot.

3.5 cents for the primer, 3 cents for 10 gr of red dot, reuse existing cases and scrap lead for free. 65% of the cost of the .22.

+1 for cast bullets. I still can load my 44 Mags for less than three cents a round. Primers and powder were good investments.

To the CF reloaders: We were talking about Standard Vel. .22 ammo which is normally a competition round, not just .22's in general.

You can't shoot CF in a .22 competition.

But since you brought it up, you can currently buy most Federal, Remington, or Blazer Hi-Vel .22's for between $.04-.06 each. Even with cheap primers , powder, and recycled lead it would come to more then the cost of the .22's. And I do agree you might as well shoot CF for the little difference in cost.

Point being .22's are coming back in stock, most sellers are just trying to make the high prices last as long as possible.

I'm seeing powder and primers show up around the Dallas area.

I was getting as bit nervous as I was starting to drift below 23,000 primers!

I bought a ton of supplies pre-2008 as a possible shortage/run was being discussed on these very forums.

I haven't bought primers or powder in many years, but have still been reloading all along.

Still in good shape here regarding supplies and the shelves in my LGS is looking better than in many years!

While I AM starting to see them online, they sell out within hours yet; and in northern Ohio I haven't seen a single box on the shelf of anything but shotshells or magnums in any store (big box or small) since 2012. I have seen a few at gunshows priced at about $100 each... and those were gone within minutes of the show opening.

Still not sure where the .22s are going, but it isn't northern ohio.
