    From 1960 to 1964 they had gas engines. Check out this website, has a lot of interesting M113 information.

    What gas engine was used? All I've found was a reference to "Original version, powered by 209 hp (156 kW) Chrysler 75M V8 petrol engine" but I can't nail down if it was a 361, 413,or 440.

    The M113 was a 283 Chevy gasoline engine. The M113AI was a diesel.

    I know the M114 Scout vehicle had the Chevy 283 but the larger M113 had a Chrysler V-8, one reference I've seen said the 361. The 113A1 got the 6V53 GMC diesel and the 113A2 got the turbo version.

    I'm looking for confirmation on the 361 from someone who worked on them.

    Never worked on the mil version, but it was a 361 mopar. An early type of the car "B" and "RB" motors. {383,413,426,400, 440}
    Main difference was water ports in the front and rear of cylinder heads.

    Here's a good pic of one.

    I drove the XM577 version in Korea in 1966 and it had a 361 CI Chrysler engine.

    We had blue Chrysler 383's in ours, in 69-70.

    Just like the Road Runner did. Meep-Meep.
