I cannot find that auction to look at, but short answer, yes they were offered, some were special order, some were factory deluxe offerings.

If it is a pre-WW II Model 94, then Yes, it is possible. If it is a post-WW II Model 94, the odds are very high that it was not factory checkered.

This rifle appears to be a Pre-64, Post WW-II rifle. For some reason, it looks like somebody's fibbing in the description, to me, or they just do not realize what they have. I am almost positive that rifle has been refinished. The only way to tell if the stocks were factory or not, is to have a factory letter.

Here is the auction in question...

It is highly unlikely that the checkering is factory. In my experience, only high grade pistol grip stocks were factory checkered. It is a nice rifle, but only hands-on examination would tell the whole story.

I doubt that's factory checkering. Too coarse and points are not in a straight line. I've not looked at it on a big screen but doubt that finish is original, also.

    It is not factory checkering.
