9 mm Kurz?

Hi, Experts. Ran into a pistol in 9 MM Kurz. Was told this is actually the same calibre as .380. Is this true? Any information is appreciated. Jim

  9mm Kurz (which means "short" in German), is the same cartridge that we Americans call .380 ACP. Your pistol is likely European.
  
  Other names for this cartridge include: 9mm short, 9mm corto (that's Spanish for short), 9x17mm, and 9mm Browning.
  
  Your gun should run fine with normal .380ACP ammo, though many of the older European guns only like ball ammo, and won't run well on modern defensive hollowpoint type ammo. If this is a gun you're thinking about using for defensive purposes, make sure you test it well with any ammo you'd like to use to make sure its reliable.
