    Rufe :

    Tks for the reply...

The backside of a set of a factory Colt 1908 25 ACP M.O.P. grips... not the medallions themselves... Maybe even one showing the stock pins holes in the rear of the MOP grips.

There were actually six types of factory Mother of Pearl grips Colt offered over the life of the 25ACP Model N "1908." Sam Lisker's site shows a picture (though it isn't real clear) of the six different types (scroll down to it): http://www.coltautos.com/1908vpgso.htm

From the serial number range you give, a proper factory grip for that gun would look as can be seen in the picture of Ser. No. 396726 here (scroll down to it): http://www.coltautos.com/1908vpinsc.htm

The back side of the grips, for the serial number range of your gun, would have had either a red or black "backing plates" (not any metal "studs") to hold the grips securely in the frame.

This is not a Vest Pocket, but a "Model M" 1903 (in .32acp); if you scroll down to my pictures 43, 46 and 47, you can see the type of backing plate similar to what your grips should have if they came from the factory (those grips on my 1903 are not actually factory grips, but copy the factory-grip method of securing the grips to the gun's frame): http://www.GunBroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=529091164

    Oh competentone :

Thanks for the reply... I have been to Sam L.'s website and also have a better idea of what the rear of these 1908 25 ACP grips are supposed to look like, from my on-line research and assistance from another GB seller..

I have also been steered to a former Colt grip maker to determine if I have a set of period or factory Colt M.O.P. grip panels.

Will be soon sending those M.O.P. grips to him and have a proper set of hardboard spacers added to the rear.

Firing the Colt 1908 25 ACP w/o those rear spacers in place and it prints everwhere as the grips tend to move after each shot.. no good.

These grips have been sent, as of Fri. this almost past week, to a former Colt grip maker for his rework.

Hope to have back in a couple of weeks..

May post pics after receiving them back for all to drool over, depends !!!
