They show 2 different firing pin type bolts and carrier part numbers for the 121 and the 12. Which I think is wrong in the 121 case of firing pins.

added I have a 121 in LR. I started shooting it back in 66. I could light stick matches with it or clip the stem on pears in a tree. Its one of my favorite rifles. Dad like the 12 better, a little smaller and lighter to carry. I still have a brick or two of Remington Golden bullets that were on sale for a penny a piece including tax in 69. Dad had all 5 kids go threw the line several times for the 200 rounds limit.
22 LR is cheap and easy to get compared to WRF/Special ammo. With cast bullets my reloadable 222 or 22 Jet is both cheaper to shoot and hotter than any the rimfires.0 -
The firing pin in the breech block that I have is flat, I think that the gun was originally a Remington 121s, but someone tried to convert it to 22lr. I am trying to bring it back to the original state. It looks to me as if the extractor is a 22lr replacing the original 22 wrf extractor. The barrel is a replacement chambered to 22 lr, that can be rechambered to 22 wrf. Any thoughts about this project 0 -
Does anyone know if the Remington 121 barrel has a right hand thread or is it left handed? I am trying to remove the barrel and it is not budging. 0 -
I think they are regular right hand threads. Warm the barrel and receiver then apply Kroil on inside and outside. Let it work for a few days. It might have been installed with like red Loctite which requires heat to release. Hopefully it wasn't screwed in with iodine which is forever.

How to post pic's here http://forums.GunBroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=259294
If they came in 22 Rem Special it must work. Maybe they milled the slot deeper on 22 RF for some reason and shallower on the 22 RS.
The rifle will never be correct to a collector IMHO, that makes it shooter - which is better as a regular 22.
I can't measure 0.0005. So .009 is how I read it. I think the 22 RS is less pressure than the current 22 RF stuff that is high speed. I had to polish my chamber to make extraction easier with the CCI MiniMags compared to the old Remington Golden bullets. Standard velocity would likely work fine but I don't have any. I stocked up on CCI's well before the first Obumma caused ammo shortage.
added 2 nice pic, good job getting it posted.0 -
Thanks, will give it a try, it is really on tight. 0 -
Would it be safe to rechamber the 22 LR barrel to 22 WRF. In the Remington 121 barrel there is a square milled slot below the chamber just in front of where the breech block seats, the thickness the top of this cutout and the chamber wall is fairly thin. I am not sure if it would be safe to thin this by 0.0085"to accommodate the 22 WRF bullet. 0 -
Here is a close up picture of the chamber end of the barrel.
The next picture outlines the 22 LR chamber and the potential 22 WRF where the 22LR is yellow and the 22WRF is in red.
Note that the milled slot at the top is nearly tangent to the rim of the WRF.0
