s&w 41 mag
I have a S&W model 657, 41 mag, 3" barrel, stainless, w/ rosewood grips that I bought new in 1987. I would like to sell it. Can anyone tell me the value?[http://i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu2/laurelharley/1_zpsn9as0gon.png] Click on link and scroll through pictures

Like new one in box just sold for $1600+ on the auction site, and there was a lot of bidding interest.

That's probably a max value.
On the other end of the spectrum, this sort of unremarkable one went for $1000.

So not knowing anything else about the gun, assuming its in good or better condition you're probably looking at $1000 - 1600 depending on exact condition and whether or not you have the original box and papers.
Edit: Higher end of the range above is reserved for collectors grade guns. So those are basically like new in box with all original papers, etc. Yours doesn't qualify. I don't think yours is a Lew Horton either. This is the gun, from link above:
Gun has matte finish, some wear, with original box and accessories, though box isn't in great shape. Pre-lock gun and nice factory original grips add a little here.
Don't know if you're including the two leather holsters, speedloaders, and box of ammo, but by itself that stuff has got to be worth at least $100. EG, speedloaders are probably worth about $20, and assuming the box is full, a box of 50 factory loaded 41 magnums is worth at least $50 now.
Without beating this to death, based on bidding interest in other auctions, there does seem to be some interest out there in 3" 657s.
My best guess is your gun would fetch about $1000 if you listed it for auction with accessories, good pictures, and starting at one cent (ie true auction).0 -

It's a Lew Horton Special Edition.
Box is marked the same as mine.
Paid $ 385.00 new in 1990's0 -
I don't believe that it's a LH gun. The LH guns had a product code of 170134 with the short barrel. Looks like a standard 1986 3" gun and the 3" LH guns were made in 1999 (page 362 SCSW). 0 -
That is a standard production 41mag with a 3" barrel. 0 -
How much is this one worth?
