Remington 11-48 Question
A friend of mine has a Remington model 11-48 shotgun in 16 guage.
He's needing a barrel for it. I've searched GB and didn't find one.
Does anyone know where he'd be able to find a barrel?

Does the Remington 11-48 16 gauge shotgun have a buffer in the fore arm that cushions the barrel lug as the barrel returns after firing?
The lug is stopped in the fore arm by metal to metal contact.
I am trying to determine why the bolt handle flys out occasionally.

Here is an article that explains the problem. You can start reading at the paragraph that says Gunsmithing the 1148. http://www.leeroysramblings.com/remington_1148_shotgun.html 0 -
The detent and it's recess are worn. Try replacing the charging handle.

I think the detent spring is weak or the notch is worn. #49

I bought an 11-48 for $100 that was in great condition but had the same problem of spitting out handles. After reading this article I looked at my barrel where the locking block locks and its damaged just like the article states. I then started looking for parts and found some at GB auctions and "other site" auctions. I have some of the lettered locking blocks and a new barrel extension but have not gotten around to doing the repairs. 0 -
I am having a problem figuring this out.. since the bolt and barrel are recoiling together on firing I cannot push the bolt back very much... Should I remove the recoil springs before trying to get a measurement.
I replaced the detent spring with a stronger one...

I have difficulty trying to get .040 movement measurements also. On my shotgun the "pocket" on the barrel extension is clearly deformed by battering from the locking block. I can see that there is extra clearance so the article makes sense for me. 0
