Remington 870 Wingmaster barrel swap

I have an 870 Wingmaster in 16 gauge and was wondering can I put a 12 gauge barrel on the receiver and use it? Thanks Bull..

  nope. if it was a 20 gauge, depending what yr it was made you could as the early 20 and 12 used the same receiver. the barrels wont fit your 16, not to mention the bolts are way smaller and so is the magazine tube. why not buy a 12 gauge? I see 870s all the time under 200.00

  Thanks burpfire for the response...I have a 12 gauge barrel laying around and thought I could use it on the 16..
