    Doubtful with a .308 bullet.

Pretty sure Remington, Winchester and Federal all offer 7.62X39 soft-point ammo for hunting.

Finding some may be a chore.

    Good luck

I believe either federal or Winchester made 7.62x39 with .308 bullets. The boxes were specifically marked as having a .308 bullet.

I bought some Remington 125 grain PSP bullets a decade back that measured .3095". They worked quite well in both .308 and .310/.311 bores.
One of the .308 bore 7.62x39 I have shoots factory loaded .311 soft point(gilding metal jacket) OK but doesn't do well with .311 "bi-metal" jacketed ammo. With this in mind, I suggest trying some domestic factory loads to see if any will work for you.

if you do not reload this may be the time to consider.
this caliber and bullets available make for some interesting and wide
    variety of loads.
