1873 Winchester question.

A friend swears he has a Winchester 1873 in caliber 38-55. I think the 73 was only made in 22 short, 22 long, 32-20, 38-40 and 44-40. Was the 1873 produced in 38-55?

  No. The 38-55 is too long of shell for the action.

  Maybe he has an 1873 in .38-40.
  Or an 1894 in .38-55, or even an 1893 Marlin.

  As stated, he does not have a model 1873 in .38-55 caliber.

  38-56 is not a 76 caliber, it was used in the 86.
