Remington 788 bolt
I have a bolt that looks like it fits a 788 as it has the 9 locking lugs but it is a rimfire so has anyone ever seen one or know of another model that the bolt would fit or could it be a prototype ?

The .22s and 5mms had bolts similar to 788 rimmed calibers but with six lugs, not nine. 0 -
The 580 series Remingtons, were made with similar bolts with multiple locking lugs. Seems like overkill to me? 0 -
HC is right, there are only 6 lugs on the rimfires. Either the OP is mistaken? Or it might indeed be a prototype?

My 581 .22 S,L, LR has a bolt exactly like the one in the picture. 0 -
this bolt has 9 locking lugs as I stated that look just like the model 788 bolt has so that is why I am asking, the models 580,581.582 I know all have 6 lugs, this bolt may be an early prototype and I just don't know. 0 -
pip5255,
Clear, sharp photographs will help answer your questions. Simply running around in circles guessing doesn't help. Put something for scale in the pictures.
