    The .22s and 5mms had bolts similar to 788 rimmed calibers but with six lugs, not nine.

    The 580 series Remingtons, were made with similar bolts with multiple locking lugs. Seems like overkill to me?

    HC is right, there are only 6 lugs on the rimfires. Either the OP is mistaken? Or it might indeed be a prototype?

    My 581 .22 S,L, LR has a bolt exactly like the one in the picture.

    this bolt has 9 locking lugs as I stated that look just like the model 788 bolt has so that is why I am asking, the models 580,581.582 I know all have 6 lugs, this bolt may be an early prototype and I just don't know.

    Clear, sharp photographs will help answer your questions. Simply running around in circles guessing doesn't help. Put something for scale in the pictures.
