What are the markings on the rifle? Does it specifically say, "Kimber of America".

When did you acquire it? Kimber of America was only around for a limited time. Circa 1993/1997, I believe.

    Rufe,
Could be "my bad". Barrel is marked "Kimber MFG Inc. Yonkers, N.Y.
.22 Hunter". Reciever just says "Kimber .22".
Always thought there was Kimber of Oregon (i.e. Clackamas) and that the New York concern was "Kimber of America". No?
Test target says "Kimber Model K-22 .22 Long Rifle"
Action is similar to some of the early Mausers with centerfire type firing pin aligned with the center of the bolt body and bore and chamber aligned accordingly so the center of the bolt firing pin strikes the edge of the rim. Safety is patterned after the Winchester Model 70 , post '64 style.
I bought it used, maybe around 2000 or so.

    (3) different Kimbers, so it's kind of confusing.

    1, Kimber of Oregon. 1980-1991.

    2, Kimber of America. 1993-1997.

    3. Kimber Mfg. Inc. 1997 to the present.

    Rufe,
Thanks for the clarification. I've been following your posts for some time now and assumed you were right but didn't understand how or why. Should have known. Didn't. Do now.
    Thanks!

You are correct in that they are some of the finest out of box shooting rifles, the Hunter. I have one but just don't use it anymore but they are very accurate.[:)]
