Police Marksman Association
Does anyone know anything about these pistols? Ruger - Marked Police Marksman Association Limited Edition... set consists of a Security Six stainless,357, 6 inch barrel and a Redhawk stainless, 44 Mag.,7.5 inch barrel. Both in wooden case. Paperwork says 1000 sets produced. A friend is interested in selling his unfired set. Any ideas??

For the most part LIMITED editions never command the same value as standard pistols if both are ever shot A NIB limited edition MAY at some point in the future be high value IF and ONLY IF never unpacked from original box 0 -
Such limited editions almost never command a higher price except to the original buyer. After that they are simply NIB. If handled, cylinder turned or shot, they are shooters and should be priced as such. If you want the guns, you may find better deals on used here. If you want the set, get the best price you can. 0 -
I was a member of the PMA when they came out soon after the Redhawk was introduced. I never felt the urge to buy a set. The dollar value is equal to the price of the individual guns, but I don't think the inscription and box add much.
Few people even know about the PMA now that NRA has been running PPC shooting for years.0 -
The same guy who ran Gulf States Distributors ran the PMA and hooked up with Ruger to produce 1000 or so of those sets. Your best dollar would probably come from someone who's either a member of that association and wants one for nostalgia purposes or a Ruger fanatic who wants one to fill a slot in his collection.
Otherwise they're worth pretty much just the value of the standard guns themselves. The good news for you is that those sets came out in the first year of production for the Redhawk, which would tend to boost the value of your unfired specimen to the Ruger revolver heads.0 -

Hey fellows! thank y'all for all the good info on the PMA set. Looks like we need to get some ammo and enjoy shooting these pistols. 0 -
I paid $1000.oo for a set that was used very little 2 years ago. They are nice, but that was also a good deal, considering what individual guns are selling for these days. 0
