Stevens model 70

Does anyone know what the "SVG" in a circle on the left side of the receiver of a Stevens Model 70 Visible Loader is for?

I just purchased a Stevens pump 22. I believe it is a model 70 although there are no model markings. The breech does not lock into place but would be locked when the hammer falls onto the firing pin. Is this the way the mechanism works or is something broken. I would like to know before I go fire my new toy.

I don't KNOW but think it means that it was made after 1920 when Savage acquired J. Stevens.

Added after Savage bought out Stevens. Not sure of the year.
