lock stock and barrel

just assembled ae Anderson lower and kit
went to range , try to charge and shell stops 1/2 out of chamber with next shell half out of mag ... what is causing this , where to start looking?

  try a different magazine.

  Feed it singly several rounds and shoot them to knock any burrs off. A different magazine is a good try, also try pushing up, forward or backward on the magazine when releasing the charging handle.

  Did you charge it by locking the bolt carrier back, inserting the mag, then pressing the bolt release button?

  Here's my procedure for function testing new lowers:
  Load ONE round in mag and leaving empty mag in place, fire that round. Bolt should lock open. Do this 5 times. If bolt locks every time, that indicates full bolt travel to rear.
  Load ONE round from mag and remove mag. Fire that round and note that the safety engages after the shot. If so, that indicates the FCG is working and you don't have a potential full auto runaway in waiting. Repeat 5 times.
  If you follow this process, you will also have a good opportunity to check sight alignment and adjust that simultaneously.
  W/o knowing more about what you did/didn't do as far as cleaning, lubing, or hand working the parts, I don't have much to offer. Throwing random suggestions probably won't help all that much.
