stock cleaning ??
Just came into a couple of model 94's that were sent out to be engraved for a commemorative event from Legendary Commemoratives Investment Arms (see the other thread below). They are from about the mid 90's ( serial numbers 6371982 and 6371983) and one of them has a stock that is sticky. They have been in the case and box inside of a cloth sock since they were new, and only handled a couple of times. The finish looks good, but is sticky and I have no idea why. What can I wipe on it to get rid of the sticky stuff? Thanks.

Citrus-based Formula 409 and a clean cloth. 0 -
Most packing material (cardboard, foam, felt, etc) that guns come in break down over time, & give off acid or other compounds that will ruin the guns. You want to store your guns in a gun sock in your safe, with the boxes elsewhere.

That's what's odd about it. It has been stored in a gun sock that was inside a custom padded hard case. There has never been any cardboard, felt or foam in contact with it. The gun is lazer engraved though, would that have anything to do with it? A coating over the wood for the engraving process or something maybe?0
