    Stainless does that. I never worry about it. If you polish it off you are just wearing out your pistol.

    Ok thank you, I just like keep the guns cleaned well, didn't know if this was common. Thanks for your help.

    As already noted, it is common, but if you wanted to clean it without damage, I'd suggest a product like Flitz polish.

    In reality it does not much harm, but to keep it from staining, one must clean it right after the range. The cleaning is fairly straight forward, with a bronze tooth brush, some hopes #9, and a little elbow grease.

    I use J-B Bore Cleaning Compound, a mild abrasive that will also remove the ring from your cylinder chambers.
