Wood Stock

I have a Remington 700 BDL that I had to open up the barrel channel a bit, now I'm wondering what product or type of product to seal the wood to prevent future warping. Any thoughts other than copius quantities of polyeurethane?

  I like Lin-Speed oil. Do the channel, magazine well and under the butt plate or recoil pad. I use a q-tip to do the sling stud and other holes. Let it dry for several days then paste wax all the parts several times before assembly.
