k.kale turkish mauser
I recently purchased a Turkish mauser with arsenal stamp of k.kale on the receiver ring. It has small ring barrel threads with large ring receiver dimensions. My plan is to rebarrel it to 7x57,(it was 8mm). But after checking the pressure differences I find the 7mm was a much higher pressure cartridge. I know a lot of small ring mausers were chambered for the 7mm, but need an expert opinion before I continue. Everything on the receiver and bolt is in excellent condition but will it hold the higher pressure?

The Turks reworked their whole spectrum of Mausers to 8 X 57. At their Kirkkale armoury. The only ones I would have any doubts about, would be their original Model(s) 1890 & 1893. These were originally chambered in 7.65 X 53. And saw service in many wars, before being rechambered in 8 X 57 in the 1930's.
EDIT #1, Went into Frank de Haas's book. His data shows that the early Mausers. 1890, 1893, etc. Were all small ring. With barrel shanks between .980 & .995. The 98's were 1.100.0 -
7mm Mauser chamber pressure is the same as 8mm Mauser European - now CIP - specification.
The very mild SAAMI 8mm spec was supposedly developed to protect Americans shooting WWI surplus secondary standard 1888s. It is used nowhere else that I know.0 -
If it is an 38 K. Kale, it is an Large ring Mauser with an Small ring Mauser barrel threads. You can build just about anything on them but Magnums. I have two rifles built on K. Kale, one is an 30-06 Springfield and the other 243 Win. Never have any problem.
