scope base groove on old Rem 22's

    I don't have a solid answer about the Rem grooves although I seriously doubt they were using any metric specs at that time but here's a quick help for the metric conversion. One inch equals 25.4 MM. Convert the inch measurement to .000" and multiply by 25.4.
    3/8"=.375"(X 25.4)=8.525MM
    This is pretty lofty math for such an early start.

    'some' imported .22's have the 11mm grove and take a special mount. all u.s. made .22's (that I've seen anyway) take the 3/8" grove rings.

    Agree, 3/8" for the original Weaver Tip-Off Mount. Which is 9.5mm on my calculator.

    It was a good while before foreign imports started coming along with 11mm dovetails.
