Remington 783 firing pin assembly
Does anyone know how to disassemble a Remington 783 firing pin assembly?
They are easy enough to remove from the bolt but when I asked Remington how to do it they responded with,
" We do not recommend further dissassembly past what is detailed in your owners manual on page 18 and 19. If you would like an additional copy of your owners manual we can mail you one. Firing pin assemblies are a factory rectricted part and we can not send out an extra one."

Clear as mud in the diagram. Heck of a lot of parts compared to a 700 bolt.0 -

I just bought one of those a week ago. When I look at the parts diagram it makes me wonder if all you would have to do to change calibers (at least some) would be to unscrew the barrel nut & replace the barrel? For example 30/06 , .308, and .243. 0 -
There is a different magazine for the shorter rounds so you would probably also have to replace that to make sure it feeds rounds into the chamber smoothly.
As a side note, I was trying to fire some WWII vintage ammo in mine and the primers were so hard they wouldn't go off reliably. I replaced the firing pin spring with one I had from a 1917 Enfield and it seems to have fixed the problem. The Enfield spring is about 3/8" longer with the same diameter.0
