While there were a LOT of guns sold thru the American Historical Society that were "instant" commemeratives, and were made by everybody, Colt DID produce Commemeratives. BTW, some of those are named by the BATF as C&R guns, even tho less than 50 years old (value is as a collectable, not as a shooter) Last one of the WW 2 Pacific Colts I saw auctioned was a bit north of $2,000 in the wood case.

    Yes, that is a Colt.

Mr 6r is correct, this was cataloged by Colt in 1970. And, it is a C&R. According to the Blue Book of Gun Values, 11,500 were issued.

As there was a substantial quantity sold, I would expect only those in mint condition (unfired, no handling marks, perfect case, with original package inserts) would be "collectible".

No bids at $1,300 would indicate a price substantially lower than the starting price is needed to sell one that has been handled.

EDIT: I don't mind buying a Colt "second" if the price is right. I paid $625 for this John Browning Commemorative, as a previous owner lost the case:

As stated by previous posters. The only way a Colt made commemorative, like the one in question. Can have a top dollar valuation. Is to be kept in NIB condition, untouched, unhandled.

As it stands now. The collectors who would spring big bucks, for one in NIB condition. Wouldn't buy it. And it's only value, would be as a barbecue gun.

If you want to shoot it Buy it other than that a Commemorative Firearm is the poorest investment you can make ten years later a 100 % standard pistol NIB will bring more than this Commemorative one will and if you take both out of the box and dare shoot it The standard one 95% condition will bring darn near to one and one half times as much as the Commemorative one

You'd think the seller would use the correct model number.

You would think seller would get the Pearl Harbor date right too.

Seller says chrome. Would that be nickle?
