H & R Bay State 16 gauge shotgun chamber size??
I have a H & R Bay State 16 gauge single shot shotgun. It has a serial #A809792. I would like to know if anybody could help me with what the chamber size is. I have heard that there is two different chamber sizes possible for the H & R Bay State shotgun. Either 2 5/8" or 2 3/4". So if anybody can please help me with what might be the correct chamber or how to check on the shotgun itself. I would be greatly appreceiated. Thanks.[:)]

THINK it would be 2.9/16 on the old ones. Unless you have a gauge, maybe take it to a gunsmith ? 0 -
From elsewhere " The Bay State was manufactured between 1908 and 1942" I think 2 9/16 was normal US pre-war length. Lots of older stuff were reamed to 2 3/4. 0 -
it is easy to take a wax impression on these guns heat the barrel with a hair dryer and insert a candle remove and you should see the chamber and the forcing cone just measure the impression 0
